Hi friends! We thought we’d switch it up and be early for once…
Main announcement!
Tomorrow (June 28) at noon (UTC-6) Shanice Martin, our June practitioner-in-residence, will present her talk titled “Aesthetics of Access: Analyzing and Reimagining the Forms and Functions of Subtitles and the Technology Used for US Television and Public Access Shows”. Send an email to mediaarchaeology+rsvp@colorado.edu for the zoom link & password!
Unfortunately we are having to re-schedule this talk because the internet has been unstable on campus all morning. We will send out a new date/time as soon as we have one!
The usual odds-and-ends sort of newsletter otherwise, summer being what it is…
We did some website cleanup! If you’ve not been in a while, our main website at mediaarchaeologylab.com hasn’t changed in appearance, but the information is all shiny and up-to-date, including a catalog refresh with all the stuff we’ve accessioned over the last few months and some new publications & press.
We’ll be trying to do a weekly chat/hangout livestream on Twitch, Mondays starting at noon our time (UTC-6). The idea is that we’ll do roughly an hour of whatever project we’re working on with dedicated chatting time, and then the stream will stay up for the rest of the day for our Monday open house hours. We’ll see how long we can keep it up!
We are (finally) getting our ducks in a row on the next round of MAL t-shirts. If you are interested in being added to the request list for t-shirts, please email us at mediaarchaeology+tshirtplease@colorado.edu with your name, shipping address, the number of shirts you’d like, and the sizes. We’ll get a more formal request form up soon, but this way we can start gauging interest. Shirts will be $25/ea including shipping to the US - non-US orders will be some amount over that depending on location to cover extra shipping costs. We will send out donation info once we’ve got our order ready to go. Keep an eye on socials for the design announcement…
And finally, usual reminders:
Follow us on our social medias!
Come hang out if you’re in town!
Bye for now!
