The semester has ended and we’re in full summer swing, so please excuse our sometimes unpredictable hours! We’ll continue updating our hours in this Mastodon post so please do check there if you’re thinking about visiting.
It’s a light news month, but a few things of note:
We are sad to say that we did not get a visit from Steve Wozniak after his commencement speech here at CU Boulder. The mere possibility of a visit kicked us into gear on some cleaning and organization projects, though, so should you visit we’re a much tidier and more comfortable MAL than we’ve been in a while.
The potential of a Woz visit also prodded our volunteer Spike to do some Easter Egg extraction on our Mac SE, running a program that displays photos of the early Apple team stored in its ROM. More details at https://infosec.exchange/@spike/112414951040743812.
Spike is also currently working on a really cool hardware emulation of the Kenbak-1, pictured here with his pdp11 clone and our real deal pdp8/e. As always, our volunteers are constantly working on new and interesting projects in and related to the lab.
May also saw a visit from our penultimate practitioner-in-residence Paul O’Neil - be on the lookout for info about June’s resident!
Finally - book club! This month we’re reading The Two Revolutions: A History of the Transgender Internet (happy pride, btw). As always, feel free to share your thoughts about the reading in whatever venue works best for you - Mastodon, Bluesky, Instagram or the OtherNetworks blog.
More soon!
